ONE big star leads the three kings to Bethlehem but there are hundreds of little stars performing in school nativity plays across Oxfordshire.

Children at Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School in Chipping Norton and Stanton Harcourt Primary School staged their Christmas shows yesterday.

After weeks of learning lines and rehearsing their songs, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, sheep and wise men all sang like angels in front of proud parents.

Key Stage One pupils at Stanton Harcourt staged a version of the nativity called Superstar, about a little star who thinks he is no good but then gets picked to be a special star.

The performance was held at the village hall so the whole school and parents could watch. It went down a storm with the audience, including Laura McEachern, a parent at the school.

Six-year-old Lucy Zhang as an angel at Stanton Harcourt Primary School

“They loved learning the catchy tunes, dressing up in their costumes and performing in front of the school and their families. Though some of them were only four years old, they all sang and performed with confidence.

"The parents thoroughly enjoyed the show and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as they sang Away in a Manger.”
