THE family of a 26-year-old man killed in a crash at North Leigh have said they do not have the words to say how the support of his friends has helped them.

Richard Reed was killed when the car he was a passenger in crashed on Sunday, November 2 on the A4095.

His funeral was held on Wednesday at Oxford Crematorium in front of more than 200 mourners.

This morning his father John, mother Angela and brother Martyn spoke for the first time publicly about Mr Reed – who worked at Mercedes Benz in Kidlington – and the support they had recevied.

In a statement they said: “We cannot express enough our deep felt gratitude and sincere thanks for all the wonderful tributes, flowers and cards from  all his many, many friends to which we will always be eternally grateful for the love and support they have given us during this incredibly difficult time,  thank you all so very very much.

“A reception in honour of Richard was held afterwards at the Red Lion in Eynsham and due to his immense popularity it was bursting at the seams.”

The former Bartholomew School pupil was a big sports fan and had supported Manchester United from any early age.

The family, who live in Long Hanborough, added: “Richard also ran daily and had only just bought a specialized Rockhopper bicycle, which he only had the chance to use just once.
