SERENE gardens and blossoming flowers took the spotlight during a national daily television programme this week.

Waterperry Gardens, near Wheatley, featured in BBC1 programme Glorious Gardens From Above on Monday.

Garden staff enjoyed their time in the limelight after horticulturist and programme presenter Christine Walkden visited the grounds in July.

Horticultural manager Robert Jacobs, 52, said: “I was apprehensive before it was on but we have had some lovely comments from people about the programme so I’m really proud of all the staff at Waterperry Gardens for what a lovely job they have done.”

The eight-acre Oxfordshire garden was one of 45 gardens found within 15 counties which feature in the series.

Gardeners at Waterperry Gardens were filmed hosting practical sessions with Ms Walkden and revealing the array of blooming flowers found there.

Mr Jacobs, from Chipping Norton, said: “Visitors can get the peace and tranquillity of the gardens and at the same time they can learn because it is a teaching garden.”
