A public inquiry began into a decision to reject plans for 60 homes in Chipping Norton yesterday.

West Oxfordshire District Council turned down Sharba Homes’ bid to develop land at West End Farm in Churchill Road last December. It said it would harm the setting of the Grade II-listed Bliss Tweed Mill.

The developer appealed and an independent planning inspector will now have the final say, which could take up to six days.
