AN 18-YEAR-OLD who was caught selling cannabis in a car park at the Cowley Mini Plant has been given a community order after appearing at Oxford Crown Court.
Ashley Radbourne, of Barns Road, Cowley, was arrested on June 4 this year.
He pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B drug with intent to supply.
Prosecutor Jonathan Stone said police were called to the factory at 12.45am by security staff, who had detained a young man who was in possession of cannabis.
Mr Stone told the court on Friday the officers asked where the youth had bought the drug.
He then pointed out a car belonging to the person he bought the drug from.
Radbourne, who worked at the plant at the time, was arrested and police found £420 worth of cannabis in his Ford Focus, Mr Stone said.
The prosecutor added that there were also texts on his phone that he had sent to as many as 25 people making it clear he had drugs to sell.
Timothy Boswell, defending, said his client had not made any money by selling cannabis, but was only dealing to fund his own habit.
He said: “His family is fully aware of what he has done, and he fully realises that what he has done is wrong.”
Recorder Nicholas Cole sentenced Radbourne to a 12-month community order with a six-month curfew and ordered him to pay £275 costs and a £60 victims’ surcharge.
