THE Secretary of State for Defence visited RAF Brize Norton earlier today, ahead of plans to invest in more accommodation for the service families at the base.

The Right Hon Michael Fallon visited the RAF base to meet service crews and receive a tour around various aircraft.

He said: "It's very impressive. Brize Norton is the centre of operations.

"I've been speaking to crews flying from all over the world. They're always ready to help supply humanitarian aid, such as they did for the earthquake in Nepal.

We are investing some £366million in training and engineering here.

"We're also getting ready to welcome the 6th and 7th A400M aircraft next month."

Group captain at RAF Brize Norton Simon Edwards said it was a privilege to welcome the Secretary of State for Defence to the base.

He said: "It's been an opportunity for us to show him the very latest of the aircraft arriving on a daily basis.

"It's important for him to see what goes on here, on the ground and meet people who make it work."
