THE A34 southbound carriageway is now fully reopened between Islip and Pear Tree after a collision.

Thames Valley Police's road policing unit warned however that there were still "long delays from Junction 9 of the M40".

Force spokeswoman Charlotte Redman said two vehicles were involved in the crash this morning, which officers were called to at 7.55am.

Firefighters and paramedics were also there, with an ambulance spokeswoman adding one person had been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Since the A34 was initially closed, vehicles have been queuing back as far as Bicester.

There were reports that a lorry had been involved in the collision, but police said it was not involved and had stopped to offer assistance.
