Firefighters tackled a blaze inovling a wood-burning boiler in Ducklington last night.

Crews from Witney, Eynsham and Oxford attended the burning property in Witney Road at 9.40pm yesterday, with the fire developing in an extension.

Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service attended the scene, but no one required treatment.

Incident commander, crew manager Glen Lee from Witney Fire Station, said: “The fire was noticed after hearing a bang from outside, and with the owner calling 999 immediately the fire could be contained causing damage only to the extension."

Mr Lee added households should have their heating systems serviced and chimneys swept as a safety precaution before the colder months arrive.
