FIRE investigators and police are working to determine how a blaze started in a school building in Didcot this morning.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 11.19am to St Birinus School, in Mereland Road, where there was a fire in the ground floor of the mathematics building.
Firefighters put out the blaze, found in a disabled toilet, and said no injuries were reported.
Incident Commander Steve Wright said it was contained, but some smoke spread to other parts of the building.
He added: “The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with our specialist fire investigators assisting Thames Valley Police.
“The prompt actions by staff in locating the fire and subsequent evacuation, prevented the fire from escalating and causing further damage or any injuries to staff or pupils”.
