THE number of voters who reported not receiving postal ballots in Oxford West and Abingdon has risen to 150.

Yesterday Vale of White Horse District Council said between 50 and 60 people had not received their postal vote papers.

But this morning, less than 24 hours before the polls open, it emerged three times that number still did not have ballots.

The district council said that those 150 had now received postal ballots and most had now voted.

Postal votes must arrive with election officers by 10pm tomorrow or they will not be counted.

Vale of White Horse District Council has been working with Oxford City Council to try to ensure people who have not received postal ballots are still able to vote.

Voters have been invited to cast their ballots in person at Oxford Town Hall and papers have been hand-delivered by council staff to those unable to do so.

A Vale of White Horse District Council spokesman said: “The important thing to stress is that the vast majority of people are still able to vote and we will continue to issue replacements right up until 5pm tomorrow.”

At the last general election, Nicola Blackwood won the Oxford West and Abingdon seat by just 176 votes.
