Friends and family gathered this evening to remember Kyle Byfield.

A small group, including Mr Byfield's mother, gathered to set off Chinese Lanterns in memory if the 23-year-old at parkland at Foscote Rise, Banbury.

It is believed Mr Byfield had been visiting friends in Jubilee Court, where police were called in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was discovered with puncture wounds and rushed to the Horton General Hospital, but died later that day.

Friend Nick Townsend, who helped organise the event, said everyone in the close-knit Banbury community was still in shock but wanted to do something to pay their respects.

He said the family were still too shocked to talk about their son.

Officers have a 24-hour extension to keep two people arrested on suspicion of murder, a woman, 26, and a man, 22 – both from Banbury – in custody.

Mr Townsend said Mr Byfield had visited the flat and was enjoying an ordinary night before things turned sour in the early hours of the morning.

On Thursday evening officers were seen searching drains outside Jubilee Court and interviewing residents including a shopkeeper of a premises in Newland Road.
