CITY councillors last night approved the latest plans for the £440m redevelopment of the Westgate shopping centre.
New artists’ impressions were shown to councillors on the west area planning committee and the proposals were agreed.
The fresh designs were for landscaping around Abbey Place and Greyfriars Place, and there were amended plans for buildings in Old Greyfriars Street, Greyfriars Place and Pennyfarthing Place.

City councillor Colin Cook said: “These latest matters have been approved.”
Demolition work has already started on the Westgate multi-storey car park and the scheme, featuring a new John Lewis anchor store, 100 new shops and a five-screen cinema, is due to be completed by autumn 2017.
