A FAMILY home was saved from a blaze by firefighters last night.

The fire, at the home in Old Road, Wheatley, started in the log burner and chimney void but spread through wooden panelling and damaged a child’s high chair.

Smoke filled the ground and first floors.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 8.55pm, and sent two engines from the The Slade in Oxford.

Crews managed to put the blaze out and left before 11pm.

No one was injured in the fire.
