YOUNG musicians, actresses, poets and dancers performed to a sold-out crowd at the Sheldonian Theatre as part of a school centenary.

Headington School is celebrating its first 100 years with a four-day extravaganza.

More than 100 students past and present performed at the event on Tuesday to 500 parents, classmates and Old Headingtonians.

School spokeswoman Nicky O’Shea said: “We’ve had a great response from parents.

“The show catalogues 100 years of Headington and women in education.”

At Tuesday’s event, former student and newsreader Julia Somerville took part in festivities by reading news bulletins of historical events during the show.

Tonight the school will continue their residence in the Sheldonian with a celebration of British music by students.
