Spokeswoman for Cheney School Jessica Cotton said the school would not comment on what action the school had taken, or whether any students had been suspended or expelled as a result of the assault.

In a statement she said: “It is school policy not to comment on any matter involving students at our school, in order to safeguard their welfare and maintain confidentiality.”

The force could not confirm whether teachers notified the police of the reported assault.

South Central Ambulance Service said it did not attend the incident.

It comes after Cheney School received a good rating for behaviour and safety in their Ofsted report.

According to the report, exclusion of students at the school had risen over the last year because “of the academy’s policy to use exclusion to manage the persistent disruptive behaviour exhibited by a small number of students”.

The report added: “Incidents of bullying are low. When incidents occur, leaders deal with them robustly and with sensitivity.

College leaders monitor the students involved to ensure repeat incidents do not occur.”
