FAMILY and friends of a murdered teenager have planted flowers at her memorial garden today.

The garden is being put together to remember Jayden Parkinson, who was killed by her ex-boyfriend Ben Blakeley in countryside south of the town in December 2013.

Volunteers have been working on the garden for the last five weeks on land close to where Jayden’s body was found in Blakeley's uncle’s grave in All Saints Church, Didcot.

Her mother Samantha Shrewsbury said: “We wanted her friends to come and plant something, so they can have that little bit of the garden that is theirs.

“It’s something her friends and family and hopefully the whole community can take pride in.

“Even out of such a tragic thing something positive and beautiful can come out of it.”

Jayden’s friend Bethany Ray came up with the idea and helped with today’s planting.

The 18-year-old said: “It’s been really nice today and once it’s finished I’ll be here all the time “It’ll be somewhere we can come and be close to her.”
