TWO conmen who targeted elderly people in Oxford, taking up to £15,000, have been jailed.
Jimmy Chuter, 26, of Montrose Avenue, Datchet, Berks and his father Albert Webb, 51, of The Paddocks, Virginia Water, Surrey would travel to the city looking for victims.
They said they would claim to have done roofing work and demand money from victims, mostly elderly, and sometimes steal items from within their homes.
Hertfordshire police uncovered 35 crimes committed between February 2012 and February 2014 in Oxford, Hertfordshire, Avon and Somerset, Hampshire and Surrey.
The men appeared at St Alban’s Crown Court and Chuter was sentenced to four years in jail for conspiracy to defraud.
Webb was sentenced to three-and-a half years for conspiracy to burgle, conspiracy to defraud and a stand-alone charge of fraud for a historical matter.
