TRAIN services between Oxford and London are expected to run as normal tomorrow, Network Rail has said.

On Saturday engineering works overran in the London Paddington area and caused delays to passengers, with some services being cancelled altogether.

Due to ongoing work over the festive period, including upgrades the Reading viaduct, Network Rail said services had already been reduced.

There are due to be two Oxford trains an hour and two stopping services in the Thames Valley, First Great Western said.

Tonight Network Rail spokeswoman Victoria Bradley said problems during the weekend were not expected to carry over and affect services tomorrow between Oxford and Paddington.

She said: “The problem at Paddington was resolved this morning and work to the north of Kings Cross station is due to finish tomorrow morning, so the first services should run as normal.

“At this point in time, everything is going to plan.”

During Saturday's delays, services between London and Reading were highly disrupted, meaning travellers going between Oxford and London were advised to use Chiltern Trains from Marylebone to Banbury and then change.
