MEMBERS of the public tried to help a man killed when his car crashed into a tree near Shrivenham yesterday.

The 32-year-old - whose name has not been released - was the only person in a black Ford Focus that crashed off the B4000 between Shrivenham and Ashbury, near to Zulu Farm.

Police spokeswoman Hannah Williams said: "Members of the public stopped to help the victim, as did the emergency services."

Police were called at about 2.20pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and police have this morning appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Pc Martin Mann said: “If you have any information which you feel is relevant to the enquiry please contact police.

“If you witnessed the collision please call me via the 24-hour police enquiry centre on the non-emergency number 101.”
