SIR David Attenborough fans queued for almost eight hours to meet the broadcaster and nature expert at a book signing in Oxford yesterday.
The BBC star said it was amazing to see hundreds of people queueing down Cornmarket Street and Ship Street from 9am for the 4.30pm event.
Sir David was signing copies of his autobiography Life on Air at Waterstones in Cornmarket Street.
The 88-year-old said: “It’s amazing so many people have been queueing since 9am just to see me.”

“Everyone queueing has been lovely as well, just really excited.”
Amelia Easton, from Witney, was one of the first in line. The 17-year-old animal management student said: “I’m obsessed with him, I’ll probably cry when I get to meet him. If I can ask him something I’ll probably ask where the best place he went to was.”
It was not just curious shoppers who queued. Tara O’Donnell and Kenny Loftus travelled from Ireland to see the star.
Miss O’Donnell, a geography teacher, said: “I didn’t want to miss this chance.”
