A train manager was attacked on a Chiltern Railways service near Banbury.

British Transport Police said the attack happened on the 4.55pm Birmingham to London Marylebone service, between Leamington Spa and Banbury on Saturday.

Pc Liam Deasley said the rail worker was checking tickets “when he became involved in an altercation with a male passenger in the centre carriage of the train”.

A 29-year-old Birmingham man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed until December 27.
