A PENSIONER died last night after a crash in Abingdon.

The 81-year-old woman was killed after she was in a collision on the A4183 Oxford Road, at Lodge Hill, Abingdon.

The crash, which also invovled a Ford Focus, happened at about 5pm and the road was closed until 8.30pm.

Thames Valley Police said that the woman died at the scene.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 5pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“An ambulance, basics doctor, ambulance officer and rapid response vehicle attended the scene in Lodge Hill, but the pedestrian was confirmed dead at the scene.

“There were no other patients.” 

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Sgt Sharon Scarffe on 101.

Oxford Bus Company said its X3/X13 services were being diverted around the scene via Kennington and Radley as emergency services dealt with the crash.
