OXFORD residents are being urged to join protests against hydraulic fracturing of shale gas - known as “fracking” - outside County Hall on Tuesday.

A demonstration will be held outside the building while at the meeting that starts at 9.30am councillors debate the use of fracking.

Steve Dawe of the Oxfordshire Green Party said: “The county council should join countries and states which have banned hydraulic fracking as a threat to water supplies and as a source of air pollution.

“I urge people to turn out to show our opposition to fracking.”
