PARTS of the A34 and Walton Street will be closed next week as roadworks are carried out.

The A34 will be closed northbound between Hinksey Hill and the Peatree Interchange from 10pm until 6am on October 6 and 7 due to safety repairs.

The same section of the road on the southbound carriageway will then be closed from 10pm to 6am October 8 and 9.

A34 project manager Guy Watts said: “We will be working overnight as this is when the fewest vehicles are on the road.

“We will be using this time to remove and replace road markings and studs that are in poor condition, as well as repairing any joints and cracks where required.

“This work will improve the safety for road users by clearing delineating lanes and by creating a smoother, more driver friendly journey.”

Walton Street will be shut on October 5 between 9am and 8pm and buses on Stagecoach route 17A/C will be diverted in both directions.

Buses towards Oxford will not be able to serve any stops in Jericho and will be diverting via Woodstock Road.

Buses towards the John Radcliffe will be diverted via Little Clarendon Street and will not be able to serve the Ruskin College stop on Walton Street.
