A THIRD woman in two days has been the victim of a sex attack in the city.

Officers investigating two rapes in the early hours of Saturday are now linking one of the attacks to a lunchtime sexual assault in South Park on Sunday, when a woman in her 20s was attacked at 12.10pm. No further details have been given.

Police have confirmed they are linking the suspect to a grey-haired white man in a hooded jacket who followed a woman into a Headington flat and raped her.

A 41-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of rape over the Headington incident, remained in police custody yesterday afternoon.

A 21-year-old man arrested after a woman was raped in Brewer Street on Saturday morning has been bailed by Thames Valley Police until Monday, October 20.

The victim, in her late teens, was raped in Brewer Street, St Ebbe’s, after leaving the Camera nightclub with a man she had met earlier that night.
The attacks, which have prompted calls for high policing levels in the city, came at the end of Freshers’ Week at Oxford Brookes. It is understood the university emailed all its students on Sunday warning them to be extra vigilant. Students also said they had also been given ‘rape’ whistles.
