Munshi trial: Jury hears murder accused was an "embittered young woman"

Oxford Mail: Munshi trial: Jury hears murder accused was an "embittered young woman" Munshi trial: Jury hears murder accused was an "embittered young woman"

A MUM accused of murder was an embittered young woman when she plotted to torch a family home, jurors heard today.

Fiaz Munshi, now 38, denies murdering brother and sister Majid, 15, and Anum Khan, eight, in the Magdalen Road arson attack in 1997.

But prosecutor Neil Moore, finishing his closing speech at Oxford Crown Court this afternoon, said all the evidence pointed to the fact that the siblings were killed when Munshi and her accomplices targeted the home.

He said she wanted revenge when the family stopped her from seeing their son Amjad who she loved.

Mr Moore said: "You can be sure Fiaz Munshi was part of a plan. A plan in which she intended the occupants of that house to be killed or seriously injured, or at least she foresaw that was a real possibility.

"Nobody suggested that Anum and Majid Khan were on her hit list. She was an extremely embittered young woman who wanted revenge on that family."

Defence barrister Stephen Kamlish is due to give his closing speech tomorrow.
