JAYDEN Parkinson’s killer yesterday apologised to his victim’s family, causing her mum to flee the courtroom in tears.

Ben Blakeley, who denies murder but admits mans-laughter, sparked emotional scenes at Oxford Crown Court when he passed a note to his barrister Richard Benson QC.

The defence advocate was cross-examining Jayden’s older sister Sharday George, following her evidence about the 17-year-old’s “infatuation” with her boyfriend.

He said to her: “I have been passed a note from my client, who as you know cannot address you himself. He does want you to know that he does apologise.”

As a commotion started in the public gallery, Mrs George interrupted and said: “No, I don’t want to know.”

Jayden’s mum Erica Simms then left the court in tears with other members of her family.

The teenager’s body was found in the grave of the defendant’s uncle, Alan Kennedy, in a cemetery next to All Saints’ Church in Didcot on December 18 last year.

Blakeley is on trial accused of murdering Jayden on December 3 after she told him she was pregnant with his child.

He has also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, along with a 17-year-old, who cannot be named, and who allegedly helped him bury his victim’s body.

Yesterday the jury also heard evidence from taxi driver Adrian Stovell, of Go Green Taxis in Didcot, who picked Blakeley up early on December 9.

Opening his case, Richard Latham QC said this was the night Blakeley used a suitcase to move Jayden’s body to the cemetery where it was buried.

Mr Stovell said Blakeley told him he had been thrown out by his girlfriend and had all his belongings in the suitcase.

Mr Latham asked: “Did you help him lift the suitcase into the car?”

He replied: “Yes I did.”

The barrister said: “How heavy was it? You must have lifted a few suitcases into the back of cars.”

Mr Stovell said: “It reminded me of the old-fashioned brown bags of spuds, that was the sort of weight. There is no way one of us could have lifted that into the car.”

The unnamed 17-year-old denies one count of preventing a lawful burial.

The trial continues.
