More than 5,000 runners have left the Kassam Stadium this morning to take part in the third Oxford Half Marathon.

The wet weather wasn't enough to put off the estimated 5,500 people who lined up ahead of a gruelling 13-mile race around Oxford city centre.

Race officials said the leading runners would start to arrive back at the stadium just after 10.30am, but others are expected to take several hours to complete the challenge.

Supporters are currently waiting expectantly in the stalls at the football stadium, braving the wind and rain to cheer their loved-ones on as they return.

Spectators have also lined the route, particularly in the city centre, where Magdalen Bridge is a popular spot for crowds.
