STAFF from a leading recruitment firm are assembling a team to take on next year’s Oxford Mail OX5 Run in aid of Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Allen Associates, based at Oxford Business Park, is the main sponsor for the five-mile charity run which will take place on Sunday, March 29.

Co-directors Kate Allen and her husband Rob will both be running round the grounds of Blenheim Palace in Woodstock and are urging other firms to get involved.

Mrs Allen said: “I have worked in Oxford for 16 years and I grew up here.

“It’s really important to give something back and as a mum I can’t think of a more important cause than the children’s hospital. Also we’ve felt in recent years it has brought our team together here.

“Everyone has already started talking about their training.

“We have a team of 16 in the office and they will all be involved, either running or volunteering.”

The run’s organising committee is aiming to get 1,500 competitors signed up. And they have set the people of Oxfordshire a fundraising target of £150,000.

Mrs Allen added: We want to galvanise people and our clients to get involved.

“The money goes to such a great cause, whether it is play equipment, specialist equipment to help a child to breathe, or an extra facility for parents to stay near the hospital.”

Managing consultant Hannah Bush, 27, from Wheatley, is part of the Allen Associates’ team taking part in the run.

She said: “There’s a great atmosphere on the day and a really lovely feel to it.’’ Fellow managing consultant Hannah Mcilvennie, 27, from Didcot, has also signed up for the race, which will be her fourth. She said: “It’s a fun day for a brilliant cause.”

Oxford Children’s Hosp-ital spokeswoman Sarah Vaccari said: “We are delighted that Allen Associates is once again sponsoring the OX5 Run.

“It’s such a fun way for companies to make a very real difference and it also works as a great team builder. We really hope lots of companies reading this will think about taking part in our March 2015 run and doing their bit for the Children’zs Hospital.”
