Am Dram Man is Lance Bassett who joined the Group way back in 1971 as a child actor it must be said. (Well nearly)
Well both the technical and the dress rehearsal have been and gone and tomorrow night we open for our three night run of ‘A Brief Encounter with Noel Coward’ which includes the play ‘Still Life’ from which (and I’m sure you will remember this) the film Brief Encounter was made. Details of tickets are on previous blogs but suffice to say phone should you wish to see this extravaganza call 01865 820375 and ask for Betty.
It’s done. Everything is now in place for our Brief Encounter with Noel Coward. All there is between us and the opening night is the technical and dress rehearsal early next week and then on Thursday 26th it’s on with the show.
So it’s books down and costumes on this week as our production of Noel Coward’s Still Life nears its performance dates at the end of this month. Full details of booking tickets can be found on last weeks blog. Ticketmeister Betty says nobody has phoned mentioning my blog, so why not eh? eh? eh?…….So here is her number again. Ready? Take this down….01865 820375. So there you have it.
So what’s been happening this week in the exciting world of amateur drama in Kingston Bagpuize? Right, next question.
The set for ’A Brief Encounter with Noel Coward’ is up, painted and well on the way to being finished.
So that’s it then. The annual Drama Splinter Group returned from Eastbourne having fitted in brilliantly with the locals. A bus trip to Beachy Head and another to Hastings all included. My my here we are having joined the stick and wheel club and I don’t even remember applying for membership.
Our ‘A Brief Encounter with Noel Coward’ evening is in full rehearsal with the ‘Still Life’ play nearing books down and the poetry/songs/performance pieces for the other half of the evening all in place.
‘Still Life’ rehearsals steam on with some keen types having books down already.
Rehearsals continue on ‘Still Life’ with a makeshift set as plans are formed to turn the village hall stage into a replica of Carnforth railway station over the next few weeks. Brief Encounter is one of my all time favourite films so it’s a labour of love rehearsing this time.
So rehearsals are now in full swing and Still Life begins to take shape. As we all know by now this is the play from which the film Brief Encounter was made, one of Noel Coward’s finest productions. So I am enjoying the rehearsals immensely.
