A day without sunshine is like night......

The sun shone beautifully last Sunday for the annual BBQ and it was also very well attended. Good food, good drink, good company….no one misbehaved, good grief…so there you go another successful event by KBDG. Thanks to Andrea and Paul for their hospitality and to everyone else who came along for the array of food especially the desserts.

Both of our childrens’ Workshops were well attended and proved to be a great success and positive feedback has already been received from impressed parents.

Tuesday’s lighting workshop was less well attended. Our Ian provided a very considered and well thought out introduction to lighting covering the equipment we have, how to set it up and things to take into account when lighting a production. I am told it was very illuminating.

Next Tuesday is the Special General Meeting. We are minus a Chairperson at present and no one it seems is falling over themselves to replace our Kate who had to retire on health grounds a few weeks ago. Not surprising as she has directed more dramas than Steven Spielberg of late. So Tuesday’s meeting will be interesting and a full report published on the next blog.

Meanwhile rehearsals are about to start on our next production, Still Life by…….look I’ve covered all this before, details and reasons for our November play can be found in the last two or three blogs….enough to say it all kicks off on Monday and the director has asked we be word perfect when we turn up for the first rehearsal, you have to laugh don’t you.

As the sill season progresses and news is scarce and Old Chuffer is behaving himself I’ll tell a little story that happened to a friend of mine, he was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday.

'I'd like to be twelve again', she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to Alton Towers theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Corkscrew, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything. Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a Mc Donald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to the cinema with popcorn, a huge Cola, and her favourite sweets............M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled h ome with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like b eing twelve again?'

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. 'I meant my dress size, you retard!!!!'
