Michael Heavey defends the principle of freedom of speech by insisting that Alan Page is perfectly entitled to his views on hunting (Oxford Mail, July 24).

Yet, at the same time, he condemns animal rights' defenders for criticising Mr Page for making a series of major errors in his letters.

Am I missing something?

If Mr Page is entitled to express his opinions - and few would argue with that sentiment - then surely so is everyone else, even if their views do not meet Mr Heavey's approval?

Mr Heavey cannot have it both ways.
