NOW we’re in the grip of dark mornings and evenings can I urge our police force to fine cyclists who refuse to use lights on their bikes? It’s not that I get any pleasure from them being hit with a fine but my frustrations are:
1) having lights will possibly save their lives.
2) if they are involved in an accident their next port of call will be the JR which, at this time of year, is already under massive pressure, let alone the massive financial cost.
As a keen cyclist why should I do the right thing when I have heard that if cyclists are pulled over by the police they get a talking to and possibly discounted lights? Fine them and protect them then donate the fines to charity!
