I HAVE been a reader of the Oxford Mail for around 50 years and in that time have written twice to the Mail, once commenting on the death of probably your last true reporter of true facts, John Owen, and secondly the treatment by Thames Valley Police of former Detective Superintendent John Bound.

I also well remember the record number of letters written by the late Raymund Cantwell of Littlemore and am wondering if Chaka Artwell is attempting to tackle that record, giving his thoughts on so many varied subjects too numerous to mention, and that he is of the opinion the vast majority of us agree – of late the sacking of a police officer, followed by the arrest of illegal immigrants.

I’m not sure what planet Mr Artwell lives on but suggest he joins the real world and looks at the treatment of subjects in the rest of Europe. We have in this country the most tolerant system by far.

Can I suggest he go on YouTube and have a look at Pam Ayres and her reading of They Should Have Asked My Husband – it may well ring a bell.
