WHAT! Another transport policy study by a newly hired team of consultants.
What can Oxfordshire expect from this new commission where others have failed?
It appears that once again the council tax-payers are to pay for a report or reports that will end up gathering dust in the Council cellars.
We the council tax-payers should be informed as to what went wrong with the previous reports and their costs, before the Council engages on another survey.
Personally I feel that it would be cheaper to construct multi-storey car parks on the periphery of the city and have mini electric buses criss-crossing the city at frequent intervals. Cars and other motor vehicles will be banned on selected main routes so that there will be no congestion on bus routes.
As with Frideswide Square the problem here lies with trying to fit roundabouts into a square exiting via a rabbit hole under the railway bridge. It is an example of an ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
Save the money on engaging consultants and the glossy reports they will produce and use the money towards constructing an enlarged roadway into the Botley Road. Who knows, a bus station under the railway station may be away of transferring the present premises from Gloucester Green. It would ‘free up’ the present congestion.
