I WOULD like to endorse the views of Andrew Coles regarding the now notorious badger ‘cull’ (Letters, August 29).

Professor Bourne of the Independent Scientific Group (ISG) on Tb in badgers stated: “It is not badgers that spread the disease throughout the country; it is cattle.” He further expressed his disgust by stating: “It seems astonishing that it is the country’s badger groups who are funding vaccination programmes.”

In other words, it is animal welfare groups who are reducing Tb in badgers, not this rabid Countryside Alliance Government.

It is no use appealing to the other parties however, since their support for mass immigration into this small island will mean the eradication of most of our wildlife and its habitat in the future. I was also particularly appalled to see Mr Corbyn – an avowed opponent of cruelty to animals – swaying back and fore at the Glastonbury Festival with his arm around Michael Eavis, on whose land the festival takes place. Eavis is a keen supporter of blood sports and has campaigned openly in favour of the badger cull.

Our species is currently perpetrating the sixth mass extinction of species in this planet’s history, which is entirely the consequence of human activity, but people still maintain their divine right to replicate their genetic code ad nauseam, while exterminating other creatures as an inconvenience, or exploiting them as mere commodities.
