BUILDING developments everywhere you look.

‘Mind the Gap’ campaigners in East Hagbourne and Didcot worked hard to stop the development on New Road so to read (in the parish magazine) that Grainger have gone to the High Court to try to overturn the appeal verdict... I just couldn’t believe it.

Now another developer. Greenlight want to build on a field at the other end of the village, near the village school. When there’s the school run there is traffic everywhere. We have narrow roads in the village, sharp bends, and a bridge to go under this end. Increased traffic isn’t a good idea. We often come across people driving fast through the village, in the middle of the road, they don’t like to give way or move over. We have even seen a head-on (smash) at Coscote on a sharp bend.

Village life will change forever, People need green open spaces for their well-being, mind and body. Horse riders, dog walkers, runners and cyclists all need green spaces.

Just walking in the countryside with trees around you can lift your mood and benefit your health.

Don’t let these developers destroy our way of life. Villages shouldn’t become larger and larger, so that in the end you can’t see where the town ends and the village begins.

I was born in Ardington, my dad was a pig farmer. The countryside is precious, we really should protect it for future generations, not cover it with houses.
