I have just read with interest in the Oxford Mail about the Oxford School of Nursing. It made me smile because as they say what goes around comes around.
In 1974 I started my nursing career at the Oxford School of Nursing, we did 8 weeks in school at the Old Radcliffe Infirmary living at the nursing home Arthur Sanctuary House in Headington now in the grounds of the John Radcliffe.
We then work on the wards covering all areas of care: acute, general, paediatrics, midwifery and elderly in the then Oxford hospitals, Cowley Road, Old Radcliffe Infirmary, community and midwifery in local cottage hospitals. The Women's Centre was just built, mental health in the different units across Oxfordshire. I am still working at Churchill Hospital over 40 years later.
