THE high-speed rail link is a wonderful project but there is a background of cuts and shortages with education in the present discussions.
The rail link has a projection cost of £56bn scheduled to start in 2017 and be completed in 2033. The average cost for each of these 16 years will be £3.5bn.
Two questions are posed. Firstly, where would the money come from – more cuts?
Secondly, would that sort of money do away with most of the current cuts?
