ON a couple of occasions there have been speed checks in Wheatley on the London Road, particularly by our doctor’s office, which is situated in Morland Close.

I’m not complaining about the speed check because this is a ‘fast’ stretch of road and some drivers need to be caught to get the message, What does concern me is the way the police do this.

The police stand right back in the bushes on the corner of Morland Close, dressed in black, not wearing any hi-vis at all, pointing their speed gun at oncoming traffic.

Now this is a scary sight, being confronted by a guy dressed in black pointing something at you as you drive by, it is not until you have actually got next to him that you realise that it is a traffic cop.

I have never seen this done in any other area of Wheatley or indeed anywhere at all.

Just wondered what others thought about this... not the speed trap, I don’t have any issue with that, I mean the way it is conducted.
