HOSPITAL to home but where are the services?

It’s a good idea to keep elderly frail people in their own homes but not if the services are not available or the waiting list to obtain these services is too long.

An average of four weeks as an emergency has been quoted for physiotherapy treatment.

This is too long to leave the person in pain unable to do even everyday tasks for themselves.

If the person was in hospital at least they would get all the attention they need.

Without a more joined-up service, better qualified staff and good old common sense, of course, more people will go to A&E departments at their local hospital.

I was staggered today to learn that a carer going in to look after someone cannot put cream on a person without special training.

Yet you can go to the chemist, purchase the cream and even ask a stranger to put it on for you.

We need to know how difficult it is to get flexible and good quality help at home.

These home care workers need to be recognised for the excellent work they do under a barrage of rules and regulations, not all in the best interest of the person they are caring for.
