WHAT a complete cock-up the county council have made in the design and materials used in the rehash of Frideswide Square.
It smacks of Cornmarket Street several years ago, which had to be resurfaced twice because of inferior materials used at the taxpayers’ expense.
David Nimmo Smith apologises for the disruption, but insisted that the project had been a success overall.
He says the project has twice been shortlisted for a national award. How can it be when it’s continually being dug up?
The design is too tight for heavier vehicles such as buses and lorries. The carriageway part isn’t wide enough.
Large sections of the Iffley Road had to be dug up where it was cracking up and sinking after a complete resurfacing a few short years ago.
Time will tell how the A40 and roundabout works will stand up to use.
I think Cllr Nimmo Smith should carry the can for all this as he is the most prominent figure next to Ian Hudspeth.
I hear he is going to throw his hat in the ring to become Witney’s new MP. God help the people of West Oxfordshire.
