THE A40 problem will never be solved, it seems, because of the failure in communication between planning authorities.
First, the rail line serving Witney was taken away, even though the population was growing considerably.
Then the A40 was ‘detrunked’, meaning the local authority was responsible for subsequent repair/ improvement.
Now, even with the possibility (let’s wait and see) of improved peak traffic flow at North Oxford, commuters will have to negotiate several other junctions to accommodate the Northern Gateway. Somehow, this development was granted without the obviously necessary (and short) link road to the Loop Farm roundabout!
Let’s do away with Local Government altogether and decide all local planning decisions by plebiscite.
It should be easy given nearly everyone has internet access these days, and we wouldn’t take anywhere near as long to reach a decision.
