It is heartening to read how the Cowley Mini works has been going from strength to strength since 2001, but I wonder if people realise its future is on a knife-edge?
If Britons vote to leave the EU in June, it is hard to imagine BMW continuing production of cars in Oxford in the long term, let alone investing in new projects.
If all the cars exported to neighbouring Europe attract tariffs, why would BMW want to manufacture in Britain?
Plenty of other European locations with well-qualified work forces must be waiting to jump in after June 23.
4,500 jobs are in the balance.
