I HAVE just read an article from my sister on Oxford’s Cutteslowe Wall which brought back many memories of Oxford.
I was born in Jericho in 1932, the same year we moved to Aldrich Road in Cuttleslowe, only a few yards from the wall. In 1938 the wall was demolished by the city council and even being so young I do remember the event.
Because of the walls my mother walked all of her children the long way from Aldrich Road to our school in Wolvercote. My guess is about two miles each way.
I enjoyed reading your report of this in the Mail from last year.
Good memories from our happy childhood days.
Thank you.
