I WAS amazed to see so many workers on the Wolvercote to Summertown roadworks recently.

I think there must have been nine, which is almost twice as many as usual. Shame on the contractors for thinking that the bare minimum of work is acceptable or something to be advertised with their logos.

Shame on the council planners who seem to think a minimal rate of work is acceptable as long as the job is done before the ludicrously generous time allotted is up.

But greatest shame on the council for not improving the pace of work.

I manage large construction projects worldwide. The pace of work is an embarrassment to all concerned and totally avoidable.
