GERMANY in the 1930s made ample use of ‘Protection’ orders to clear the streets of poor and ‘undesirable’ people from the streets of Berlin, in preparation for the 1936 Olympic Games.
In yesterday’s Oxford Mail, councillor Dee Sinclair appears proud to announce Labour’s Protection Order, which will achieve the same results as Germany.
Labour and the executive officers are determined to turn Oxford into a ‘world-class city’ where the working poor and the vulnerable are not seen or heard in Oxford city limits.
Even a Labour councillor who has worked in Oxford city centre for 11 years said she had not encountered any ‘aggressive’ begging requiring this measure.
In addition, Oxford University strongly objected to the ‘protection order’ operating on their land.
There has been a massive petition campaign to save busking in Oxford and Liberty questioned the legality of the ‘protection order’. Voting people of Oxford, pay attention to the warnings of history and vote to end Labour’s dictatorial control of Oxford City Council at the May elections.
