WAS the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne any good at maths at school?
He has awarded pensioners an increase of £3.35 on the basic state pension and claims that pensioners will be £1,125 a year better off.
I don’t understand his reckoning; 52 weeks times £3.35 equates to £174.20.
Considering that £1 a week will go in the increase in council tax, energy bills will undoubtedly rise along with most other things, so how can Osbourne say that pensioners will be better off? I am not moaning about it; it’s just these silly statements by ministers are just a joke.
Did I hear that the omnipotent Osbourne is going to increase overseas aid?
Well I’m really pleased about that; those abroad really do need our tax money than the less well-off in this country – I don’t think.
This new proposed flat-rate pension of £155.65 to be introduced next April, is that correct that it doesn’t apply to existing pensioners.
