DURING the last few weeks, we have visited our children in Truro and Nottingham. Both places are experiencing similar upgrades to their respective road infrastructure as we are in Oxfordshire.

How come, then, theirs is being worked upon almost 24/7 with a clear commitment to finish as soon as possible but we have to put up with the shambles we are witnessing on a daily basis?

The A30 is being dualled as it crosses Bodmin Moor. This is a significant stretch of road yet is due to be finished in much the same time as the roundabout work on the A40.

In Nottingham on Sunday, a sizeable team was beavering away to finish one of the major roundabouts on the ring road, including using heavy plant.

It beggars the question as to why we put up with our political leaders when they obviously couldn’t plan a “party” in a brewery.
