I CANNOT believe the Vale of White Horse officials described the opposition to their plans as a “vocal minority of older residents”.

Do we talk about a minority of “middle aged” residents, or “young” residents? No, it is of course a negative and frankly injurious comment.

Of course, the people who have time on their hands to read their 15-page reports and to comment on them will have to be retired, or not working!

The people who can go to their meetings in the evening will be those who don’t need babysitters or are not simply exhausted after their day’s work. I am part of this group, but I am also speaking on behalf of my two grandchildren and their parents who also live in Botley and have absolutely no time to participate in any of these actions.

I think the officials behind this plan are an extremely vocal minority, and that’s a fact. How many people are there who are behind these monstrous proposals?

We can count them, I’m sure. They have jobs and salaries and it is their job to make us swallow their money-led plans. We would rather do other things, believe me, than having to attend meetings and read boring reports, re-written with paraphrases to make us believe they carry new ideas. I believe the local authority “officials” should apologise.
